Back From ER

I hate going to the ER but I just had to go. I started have bright red blood when I sat down on the toilet it was dripping a lot!  I don't know what to take from the ER doc, she said she thinks I will have a miscarriage based on my ultrasound results but all my other levels look great.
My beta today is: 20,113
They saw 1 gestational sac but said it was somewhat irregular in configuration with at least one distinct concave margin. WTF! They also said it was measuring at 7weeks 5 days, um that is crazy as I am only 5 weeks 2 days. The doctor did tell me that it is too early to find out much from an ultrasound right now.
I freaked out when they wanted to give me the RH shot because I am A-, I told them that means I am having a miscarriage, I cried.  The doctor told me I could refuse but if I did have a miscarriage I would need to come back and get one. I just don't know what to take from all of this. I got the damn shot so now my mind is going crazy!
I don't know what to take from it all. I am just going to rest. The bright red bleeding has stopped and it now just brown. I don't have any cramping, I just feel like I have for the past 2 weeks, like I am about to start my period any minute.
I know I did over do it the last 2 days. I was on my feet for 5 hours yesterday and constantly walking back and forth and running errands all over town this morning. UGH!
I called CCRM and left a message on the nurse line but it's the weekend and I don't expect to hear from them until Monday. At this point nothing can really be done any ways but rest.

  1. Krista--I really hope the ER doc is wrong. I think it would be really difficult to at this point from an ultrasound what is going on. Another blogger had a P4 drop (a little lower then yours) and spotting and was able to increase her progesterone and everything turned out well for her. Perhaps you could try that? Don't beat yourself up about being out and about, that wouldn't have caused this. Sending hugs your way.

  3. Don't blame yourself for bleeding sweetie, I'm sure running errands had nothing to do with it. Hang in there, the fact that they say the sac measured 7weeks when you are only 5 is great! And if they are terribly wrong, then they could be wrong about everything. 20,113 sounds great for a beta, I think you are just fine, hang in there, I think this is just a horrible scare. xoxo

  5. Glad you are home now and I pray that everything will turn out ok for you and your little one. Sounds like it is resolving. This would be hard on anyone, but it's especially hard knowing everything you have been through to get to this point. I will be thinking of you.

  6. Oh Krista - hang in there and try to think positive thoughts. That's a great beta number and it's so early to see anything conclusive in an u/s. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way...

  7. Yeah I agree with Josey, that is a great beta number. When I miscarried my beta was at like 800 or something. Im so confused by this ER doc, and frankly he/she is pissing me off. How would she really know you were having a miscarriage? I mean usually at just 5 weeks most women just see a sac and nothing else just yet. You obviously didnt pass the sac in your bleeding because its still in there. And the best way (besides if you had passed it) to tell of of miscarriage this early is to compare two different beta's. Like today yours was 20,000 something...they should want to do another one in two days and if its going down, then that's a sure sign you are miscarrying. So it sort of pisses me off that they are so quick to diagnose that? I dont know. Well I am praying for you and hoping this is just a bump in the road and that you get to see your doctor soon! Hang in there xo

  8. I agree with everyone else. Plus I wanted to add that if you have a healthy pregnancy there is nothing short of a car accident that you can do to cause a MC. So don't worry about being on your feet. That didn't do anything. It was probably too early in your pregnancy to go to the ER. I hope everything turns out fine. Your levels sound great! I pray everything turns out OK for you.

  9. Oh hunny...remember it was an ER doctor, not an OB or RE!!! If your beta is that great and you are measuring so well, I have all the hope and belief that they were wrong!!! So many have bleeding, and yes dripping bleeding, in the beginning. Your body is going through so many changes right now! Also, do not beat yourself up for being on your feet for 5 hours! That and you did not cause this! Thinking and sending hugs....xo

  10. Oh I sure hope everything is ok!! It sucks that the ER seemed to only make the situation worse as far as confusing you. Praying that you hear from your regular doctor soon and find out all is well!

  11. OMG, how did I miss this? I'm so sorry -- how scary. Please don't blame yourself... I'm hoping this is a fluke and that all will be okay. At any rate, hope you get some answers soon.
