Getting it Drained

I emailed CCRM about the cyst draining. My biggest concern was yesterday when I had the u/s there were not many resting follicles. I know the cyst is taking up a lot of space but I wanted to make sure if I did get it  drained that I still can get the best number of eggs. We need all we can get due to the genetic testing and due to the fact that in order to do another cycle, to save up all the money again, that would take us into 2012, we would need at least 6months to recover financially. They assured me it will help. So I guess I will get it drained. My local Dr. did tell me that it can come back after starting the stims and I am sure it will and we will be cancelled after starting stims. Real positive I know...
To drain the cyst, well they told me it's like an egg retrieval so it's pretty quick and simple. I have never had and ER so I am not too sure what it's like. My insurance will cover the cost so that is the nice part. I am not too confident in my decision but it can't hurt to try something. Some had commented about giving me something stronger to suppress me and I think that seems like the reasonable answer myself. I am going to write my nurse and ask that but for the most part they want it drained.

The ER is a very easy procedure. You will go to the clinic, either take something by mouth or through an IV to make you drowsy and off you go. You will sleep through the whole thing, wake when it's done and thats it!

  2. Good job on the decision making. It's hard to feel 100% sure but I think you made the right decision. This cyst thing can go on forever otherwise. Did you bring up to Dr. G about the cyst coming back up again during stims? If not, maybe you can ask your nurse, they have to have a backup plan for this otherwise how could you ever get to ER? I don't mean to stress you out, but I don't want you to waste money on ultrasounds and then get cancelled...

  4. I know I tried to ask my nurse some questions but the response I got was..."I understand your concerns but Dr. G is an expert." Ugh. I will make sure I email my nurse about a back up plan tomorrow. Thanks for your help everyone. I never thought I would be stuck in so many cancelled cycles.

  5. Wow...I wish this thing would just go away already - I can't believe how annoying it is. I think you made the right decision on getting it drained and as far as whether it will come back during stims, as hard as it is, I think you just need to trust Dr. G's advice - they truly do know best (I have to keep reminding myself of this every time I want to question something about my cycle...which is constantly!). You do have a right to ask questions though and get answers, so if you're really unsure, I would talk to the DR directly.

  6. Glad to see you have a plan for taking care of this. And the ER was a super easy procedure (esp because I was knocked out for it!).

I think it's lame when they answer with "Dr. So and so is an expert". No crap. That's why we're going to CCRM. But you have a right to know the reason so I agree you can call back and ask for the reason. I find with my nurse calling is better for getting answers than emailing.

    Hang in there!

  7. Ugh! I'm so ready for you to get the show on the road.....I can't imagine how YOU must be feeling. The waiting is so hard and then wondering if you are making the right decisions along the way is tough! Its not like we have tons of money to have setbacks and keep getting canceled. I pray the draining is your answer and you are able to move forward. Dr.G is definitely one if the best in the country!
